Seiko Smart Label Printer 650 (SLP650)
The Seiko Smart Label Printer 650 is one of the best and easiest to use thermal printers available today. It is also one of the most affordable. This printer takes advantage of direct thermal technology and does not rely on costly ink cartridges to produce its images. This form of printing has been in use for quite a while in fax machines, but has more recently been put to work in these small label and receipt printers. Instead of depositing ink, the print heads in these thermal machines apply heat in a very precise and specific way to the surface of the paper. The special papers used with these printers are coated with heat sensitive chemicals that, when exposed to the heat from the printer head, cause the paper's surface to darken.

The Seiko Smart Label Printer 650 (SLP650) will easily connect to any PC or Mac via USB connection and can print from most applications, including word processors and spreadsheets. The quality and speed of the printing is great too. The resolution is at a full 300 DPI while rolling out work at nearly 4 inches per second. Perhaps the greatest feature is, again, the direct thermal technology, which allows the SLP650 to keep on turning out labels without ever having to waste time with cartridge changes. With many label printers the real cost is in replacing ink cartridges or ribbons dozens of times over the life of the machine - not so with this Seiko label printer.

This printer is equally suited to making employee name tags or to turning out product bar codes, and Seiko provides blank labels for all of these functions.
